Documentation Getting started

Send a test lead

Check in two minutes that your forms are saved with their source.

  1. Open a private browser window, so that no earlier visit is remembered.
  2. Open your site through a link with campaign parameters, for example https://example.com/?utm_source=test&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=setup-check. The checklist under Leads has this link ready for your site.
  3. If a cookie banner appears, accept marketing cookies.
  4. Send one of your forms.
  5. Open Leads in WordPress. The lead appears with the channel Paid search, the source test and the campaign setup-check.

Delete the test lead afterwards, or mark it as spam, so it does not count in your reports.

The lead has no source

The lead screen then says No tracking data. The most common reasons:

  • Cookie consent. Leadwon waits for consent, but your banner does not pass it on. See Cookie consent.
  • The tracking script is blocked. Some optimisation or security plugins delay or merge scripts. Exclude leadwon from delaying JavaScript.
  • The form was sent before you opened the link. Start again in a new private window.

The lead does not appear at all

  • Check under Leads → Forms that the form is ticked.
  • The form plugin may not have accepted the submission, for example because of a captcha. Check that the form shows its success message.
  • Open Tools → Site Health. Leadwon reports there when a setting stops leads from being saved.
