Spam filter

How Leadwon recognises sales pitches and bots, and what happens to the spam it finds.

Available from the Pro plan. Compare plans

Contact forms attract sales pitches, link lists and bots. Counted as leads, they distort your reports, send notifications for nothing and, worst of all, could be reported to your ads as real enquiries. Leadwon Pro marks them as spam automatically. Everything runs on your site; no submission is sent to another service.

How it decides

Each submission is checked for signals, and each signal adds points:

  • several links in the message, or a web address in the name;
  • typical spam words and phrases of marketing offers, such as SEO or web design services;
  • an unsubscribe line like in mass mailings;
  • a throwaway email address;
  • random letters as the name;
  • a message written in a different alphabet than your site;
  • the same submission sent several times within a day;
  • a submission sent without a browser visit, as bots do.

Only a submission with at least two signals and enough points is marked as spam, so a single link in a genuine enquiry is no problem. The lead shows the reasons, for example Marked as spam automatically because of 3 links in the message and a throwaway email address.

What happens to spam

Spam is kept under Spam on the Leads screen, but it does not count in your reports, sends no notifications, is not sent to your CRM and is never reported to ad platforms.

If a real enquiry ends up there, click Not spam. The lead is restored as New, and this sender is never marked as spam again.

Your own words

Under Leads → Settings → Spam filter, add words or phrases that always mark a submission as spam, one per line, for example the name of a company that keeps writing to you. The automatic filter can be turned off there as well.
